Comments: Sonata has slightly wavy whiskers and her coat is longer and shinier than a normal rat's. When she was a baby, I thought she might be a harley, her coat was longer than usual and very greasy, like a harley's. As an adult, her coat is still slightly longer and is shinier. She is not a harley, but I believe she is a satin. There is satin in her pedigree - HGLR Agnes was a likely carrier, and is in her pedigree twice. A rat with a similar coat was produced by her brother, and I hope to reproduce it again in the future.

Sonata had a fairly long, ferretlike body when she was young, but as an adult she's filled out and gotten fairly thick. Her adult weight is 351g. This family of rats is quite slow maturing, both physicall and mentally. They often lack substance when young, but as adults they fill out and are very good looking. Sonata's head could be broader, but otherwise she is a very nice looking girl. She has very nice dumbo ears which she has passed on to her offspring.

Sonata developed a cataract in her right eye at about 18 months of age. Cataracts in rats can be genetic, but she is the first rat I've had to develop any cataracts. I will monitor the line for additional cataracts, but so far it looks like it might just be a one-time thing.

At 2 years old she has developed a slight URI. It happened about a month after I had a myco outbreak among my rats. She is doing fine with antibiotics.
